DETECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF FIRE BLIGHT IN ORCHARDS

Fire blight, a bacteriosis of fruit-trees and other rosaceous plants, can be a disastrous disease in orchards and is therefore of great economic importance. Many symptoms of fire blight can be seen during short time after infection. Using special microbiological media this pathogenic bacterium has been isolated from samples of infected apple, quince and apple trees. Inoculation tests confirmed its pathogenicity and virulence to host plants. Keywords: fire blight, bacteriosis, Erwinia amylovora, simptoms, virulence.
