Abstract

This article demonstrates, through journalistic texts dealing with economic and financial topics, the absence of absolute or “impervious boundary” between the literary text and the specialized one. The specialized text abounds in metaphors, intertextual references and elements with strong cultural symbolism and connotation, thus reflecting the linguistic and figurative creativity of its author. Literary skills are a pre-requisite for dealing with hybrid economic texts. Translating a specialized or any other type of text implies a similar cognitive process, the difference being in the notional and terminological density. Translating a specialized text is not simply a matter of terminological and phraseological research, as cultural references must also be taken into account. Keywords: specialized text, literary text, intertextual references, terminological research, translating.
