Law is a social phenomenon and the translation of a legal text refers to the transfer of a product into another culture which poses many difficulties to the process of translation. Problems of (mis) understanding appear not only while translating from one language into another one, but also due to the diversity of legal systems of the states that have the same official language. This statement explains the need of several stages in translation of a legal text: the first being decoding of information at the level of a language and a society, while the second one is the translation of the text and its adaptation to a new linguistic and social and legal reality.
