SOVIET vs NATIONALIST: OPPOSITION OF SPEECHES AND PRACTICES IN POST-SOVIET UKRAINE

Abstract
The article focuses on the confrontation of Soviet and nationalistic discourses in post-Soviet Ukraine. The author illustrates how this confrontation is used by different political players inside and outside of Ukraine to achieve their goals. A special attention is paid to the problem of Ukrainian national identity as well as the role of Euromaidan in rehabilitating of repressed nationalistic discourse of OUN-UPA. Among the conclusion is that powerful regional identities in Ukraine can‟t be a problem for state integrity of Ukraine, though irresponsible position of Ukrainian elites allowed Russia to use the crisis for inspiration of real conflict.
