DENTAL CARE TERMINOLOGY: STRUCTURE AND SEMANTIC RELATIONS

Abstract

Dental care terminology is constantly developing due to the continuous technological and medical progress. Prosthetics, dental implantology, different new methods and approaches to teeth treatment trigger challenges to generating new terms for various innovations in dentistry, thus expanding impressively the specialized language of this medical field. This paper aims at analysing the issue of term formation patterns in dental care terminology as a part of medical language and revealing some semantic peculiarities of this scientific terminology. The striking number of complex terminological units proves that compounding is notably a productive way in the formation of dental terms.
