Abstract
In this article we analyze the problems pertaining to supply practices Russian units stationed in Bessarabia between 1856 and 1874 with the means of transport. The Russian Army's logistical assurance occupies an important place in the daily work of military officials in the Russian Empire. By the complexity of solved problems, it occupies the second place after the problems related to combat training and training of the staff. The major issue of the army was the limited possibilities of transporting the enormous amount of material necessary for its existence both in peacetime and during wartime. The creation of special transport units, so-called training brigades, capable of meeting the strictly necessary requirements, solves the problem only partially. Annually, 7 000 to 12 500 cars were extracted from local households, and carriages were used in the service of military units deployed in the country.
