THE PRESENT DAY MOLDOVENISM: “ACHIEVEMENS” AND “PERSPECTIVE” (III)
Ion EREMIA Universitatea de Stat din Moldova
Abstract
The current Moldovenists' tendency to present themselves as worthy followers of the great scholars of Moldavia from the previous centuries has no basis. Contrary to this, some genuine scholars from contemporary Russia, historians and linguists, did not follow the path of primitive Moldovans, and believe that the spoken language in Moldavia, in the past centuries and present, is Romanian, and the correct name of its people is Romanian. Their opinion is based on a deep research of the rich intellectual heritage left by the great scholars of previous centuries. As long as the scholars and the young students from the Republic of Moldova, Russia and other countries respect the truth held by the historical sources and researches of the notorious scholars, and also use in their papers the expressions “Romanian countries”, “Romanian” and “Romanian language” in relation to Moldova and Principality/Country of Romania (Wallachia, Muntenia), in relation to the population and the spoken language of the Romanians from the Republic of Moldova, the “scientific” perspective of Moldovenists has no future. The issue of Moldovan identity, as it is formulated by today’s Moldovenists: Moldovans and Romanians are two different nations, Moldovan and Romanian are two different languages, it is a false problem and it will always be in crisis. Keywords: Romanian, Romanian language, Moldovenism, Moldovan, Moldavia, Principality of Romania.
