THE MARKETS IN INTERWAR CHISINAU

Abstract
On the basis of historical sources and specialized literature, the markets of the second city of interwar Romania,
Chisinau, are approached. The economic and social life of the citizens of Chisinau was marked by specially arranged
places where the retail trade was carried out, especially with agro-food products. Market types, building and organizational problems, conflicting situations faced by merchants in these economic spaces were analyzed. The geography
of the location of the markets, the logistics, the sanitary condition are presented. Both the trader and the consumer
were not left out of sight. The study also presents the perceptions of the municipal administration opposite the markets in the capital of Bessarabia.
