Abstract
In this article, we address the issue of recent lexical borrowings in the Romanian language from both a cognitive and expressive perspective, highlighting the latent potential of these dimensions. We observe a growing
interest among researchers in studying recent lexical acquisitions, a phenomenon of significant relevance in
the age of information technology and the unprecedented dynamism of the lexicon. This linguistic evolution is
driven by extralinguistic factors such as globalization, massive migration, and the continuous interconnection
of individuals through social networks. Under these conditions, diverse linguistic systems align and merge to
reflect the contents of remarkable human progress, adjusting and homogenizing heterogeneous linguistic consciousnesses in terms of perception and structure. Our focus is on the most recent borrowings, which reflect
either changes of various kinds or new existential realities shaped by shared elements of contemporary human
experience. Furthermore, we explore the nuances of these lexical elements, emphasizing their fresh, subtle, and
multifaceted expressive potential.
