Rezumat

Teachers' training in the spirit of the modernity values supposes a complex approach, from the perspective of the curriculum reform, of the educational management, of training and evaluation. It is not a coincidence the fact that the roles played by teacher multiplied, the teacher being not only an expert of the teaching act but also a reflexive professional, a model, a leader, an adviser, an evaluator, an individual to make decision in the area of the institutionalised education, a transmitter of culture, an exponent of the social values, a communication partner etc. It is not by chance that it is cast an important role to the teacher' competence profile. Competence involves the whole personality in performing a task, in achieving duties associated with a status. Any discount made to the competence criterion has an impact upon the pupils' personality. This is why we consider that the nowadays school that in a way is in crossroads, needs competent teachers who are committed to the didactic profession and who bring their actual contri- bution in shaping and developing the pupils and the students' personality.
