The article explores the impact of the school Chemistry Curriculum on students’ learning, focusing on how it
influences academic achievement and the development of essential skills. It is intended for teachers and school managers, as well as students, parents and other stakeholders in education. By analyzing students’ performance in national
exams and international assessments in the field of science, it highlights current trends, difficulties encountered and
aspects that require improvement. In addition, the article discusses modern directions of curriculum reform, such
as the integration of STEAM education, a model that combines exact sciences with arts and technology to cultivate
skills relevant for the future. It emphasizes the importance of promoting teaching methods that stimulate critical
thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills, essential skills in a society in constant change.
