Аннотация

In different periods of time, communication was represented by certain particularities, which reflect, to a certain extent,

the identity of a society, but also the specific forms of communication of certain generations. In a network society, we can receive various identities, represented by functional profiles within certain virtual communities, which we can join, taking into account environment, age, interests, field of activity, etc. Currently, we can talk about five contemporary gene- rations (Baby Boomers, X, Y, Z, Alpha), from the perspective of the transformations they witnessed, and which undeniably influenced their way of life, on a cognitive, affective and behavioral level.

The variety of factors that contribute to the formation of the mentality of a generation is very large. Those of a com- municative nature determine how a non-affine code is used, the interference channel, and the context is analyzed. The problem of the identity of a generation in the context of communication in the information society is closely related to a certain "who?", represented by one generation or another, with both a real and virtual identity, in continuous evolution.

Keywords: generations, communication, new media, digital natives, technology, interaction, electronic devices, user, mobility, virtual identity.
